Energy conservation and environmental protection are the overarching trends in the development of refrigeration and air‑conditioning equipment.

For China’s air conditioning and refrigeration industry, after half a century of development—especially the rapid growth over the 30 years since the implementation of reform and opening up—the industry’s infrastructure has become remarkably comprehensive, laying a solid foundation for further advancement. If we can better optimize the allocation and utilization of industry resources, phase out outdated products, fully promote the market adoption of energy‑efficient and environmentally friendly products, and intensify R&D efforts in core technologies, thereby enhancing the overall strength of China’s refrigeration and air conditioning sector, it will not be long before China rises to the ranks of the world’s leading refrigeration powers.

The expansion of market demand in the central air conditioning industry is particularly evident, especially in terms of geographic regions, climatic conditions, purchasing power, and consumer attitudes. The domestic market spans a wide range of climates—such as the stark contrasts between north and south—and this geographical diversity is reflected in varying demand trends for central air conditioning. It’s clear that the North China and East China regions, represented by Beijing and Shanghai—as political and cultural hubs and key radiating areas—primarily focus on investments in office buildings, with the central air conditioning market largely concentrated there. In contrast, the Guangdong region, exemplified by Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is characterized by trade and commercial activities, with real estate investment centered mainly on commercial properties. Thanks to the “municipality directly under the central government” status, Chongqing has seen a rapid increase in real estate investment, particularly in commercial and business spaces; consequently, the application of central air conditioning in Guangdong, Chongqing, and other similar regions is predominantly confined to commercial and business premises.

At present, with the rapid economic development across various regions, regional market demand for central air conditioning products is set to grow steadily. At the same time, the demand for central air conditioning in office buildings, hotels and restaurants, commercial centers, cultural and entertainment venues, defense facilities, research institutions, laboratories, hospitals, and specialized industrial plants and facilities is poised to expand in increasingly diverse directions.

With changes in national policies, the refrigeration and air‑conditioning industry has been transforming its production methods and adjusting its product mix. As evidenced by adjustments to companies’ product portfolios, energy‑efficient products have become a key focus of R&D and the primary products being promoted by enterprises.

To achieve energy-saving and environmentally friendly goals, enterprises are all conducting relevant activities centered on these themes, increasing investment in new product development, product design, manufacturing processes, and technological upgrades to production lines, thereby promoting equipment modernization. At the same time, energy conservation is prioritized in production: each enterprise has established comprehensive performance evaluation systems, striving to reduce energy consumption while expanding production capacity, and making every effort to minimize pollutant emissions at each stage of the production process.
