What accessories does an air conditioner have? What is the function of each accessory?
1. The compressor is the “heart” of the air conditioner, responsible for compressing the refrigerant. 2. The outdoor evaporator: After the refrigerant is compressed, it becomes high‑temperature and high‑pressure, at which point it flows into the outdoor evaporator. 3. The cooling fan: Once the high‑temperature, high‑pressure refrigerant enters the outdoor evaporator, heat is dissipated through the finned heat exchanger. 4. The capillary tube: After the cooling fan removes the heat, the refrigerant’s temperature approaches or equals the outdoor temperature—though it remains under high pressure. Because the capillary tube has a small diameter, the high‑pressure refrigerant slowly flows through it. 5. The indoor evaporator: Thanks to the capillary tube, the refrigerant’s pressure drops as it enters the indoor evaporator, causing it to vaporize and turn into a gas. Vaporization absorbs heat—something you learned about in middle school physics!

What are the components of an air conditioner?
Typically, air conditioners consist of six main systems: the air duct system, the refrigeration system, the humidification system, the electric heating system, the power distribution system, and the control and protection system. The air duct system generally comprises a motor, a fan, an air filter, and airflow regulation components. The air duct system of data center–specific air conditioners usually consists of a motor, a fan, and an air filter. The humidification system typically includes infrared humidifiers and electrode boiler humidifiers. Meanwhile, the refrigeration system usually consists of a compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, and a thermostatic expansion valve. The primary accessories include diffusers; hinged, adjustable return air grilles; insulated, flexible expansion joints; air filters; and ventilation ducts.
